In 2012, this home was equipped with a Lutron RadioRA2 lighting control system. After more than a decade of occupancy, many lighting circuits were no longer functioning properly. Two years ago, in an attempt to enable remote mobile control for some lights, the homeowner was misadvised to install a partial Control4 lighting system, which resulted in a fragmented control experience.
By simply replacing the main controller with a new RadioRA3 processor while retaining all existing smart keypads and dimmers, we successfully upgraded the Lutron RA2 system to Lutron RA3. This upgrade enables seamless mobile control of the home’s lighting both locally and remotely, as well as scheduling capabilities.
The Lutron RA3 system also supports integration with major smart home control platforms such as Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI, and URC.
Key Improvements from RA2 to RA3
Stronger performance
RA3 features upgraded hardware and software, delivering faster and more stable performance to support more complex smart home environments.
Broader compatibility
RA3 supports more smart devices and protocols, allowing more flexible integration and centralized control of various home systems.
Enhanced functionality
The upgrade introduces new features such as more advanced scene programming and a more intuitive user interface, improving the overall user experience.
Improved security
RA3 includes enhanced security features to better protect smart home data and communications.
Long-term support
As a newer platform, RA3 benefits from extended technical support and future updates, ensuring long-term reliability and compatibility.
In addition, we also upgraded the home theatre system, added a karaoke system, restored all previously non-functioning lighting circuits, and deployed a dedicated WiFi 6 internal network to improve overall system performance and reliability.
